About Us:

We are the Koyamatsu's, Norm, Ranae, and Buddy. We have been full time rving for 5 years and have met many wonderful people and made many lifetime friends. It was in 2005 that Ranae asked me if I would like to sell our house and join the ranks of the "homeless". It took me all of 5 seconds to decide that this was what I wanted to do. I have always wanted to travel the United States and see all the places that you read and hear about. It is a decision that we have not regretted.

Well, there's been many changes in our lifestyle since I wrote the paragraph above about our venture into fulltiming. Ranae deccided that she missed the grandkids and wanted to stay in Las Vegas close to them. We traded our motorhome in on a trailer which now is parked on our deeded lot in Rockport, TX and bought a home in Las Vegas. The price of homes in Las Vegas are so low that it was cheaper to buy then to rent. Homes are now selling for about a third of what they were a few years ago. My plan was to stay mostly in Las Vegas with trips to our property in Texas. We'll have to see how that works out.

Some of the observations I have made during our time here are:

It's sure different to be in a stick house and not traveling around the country. I enjoy the lack of the stress of preparing for our traveling and all that is required with getting the motorhome ready. Mainly I appreciate not having to dump and worry about things like the slides, tires, and diesel fuel. On the flip side, I miss the exploration and traveling throughout the country and the socializing with all the many friends we have met in our travels. We will have to see how all works out in our future.

One good thing about our home purchase is that it is low in maintenance without much of a yard and grass but has an adequate living area. Plenty for the two of us and Buddy. Speaking of Buddy, he really seems to enjoy the new place and taking long walks in the park just down the street. It works out well for him and convenient for me. My biggest challenge with the change in lifestyle is the lack of space for my tools. The house only has a single car garage and no place for me to do any woodworking. I'll have to work on that and see what I can do about creating a work area.

All in all, things have been working out with the exception of finding things to keep me busy and the dent in our financial situation.

Las Vegas is really not a bad place to retire, especially with the real estate prices and the low cost of living. There are plenty of places to eat with all the casinos offering discounts and a tremendous variety of choices in the type and tastes. As far as things to do, there is plenty of events going on and there is always the gambling, which I enjoy, as long as you don't have a problem controlling it. All in all, not a bad place to live.

Hopefully I will be able to update our website and let you folks, that are interested, what is going on in our life.

Enjoy your travels! and maybe we will join you again, although not fulltime, for a happy hour..................
